Superbug case confirmed

The Centre for Health Protection confirmed a new case of community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, a 25-year-old Sha Tin man admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital on February 27. In a separate case, it confirmed 20 children aged two to five at the Po Leung Kuk Kwong Fuk Kindergarten in Tai Po had fallen ill with hand, foot and mouth disease. None needed admission to hospital.

Smugglers flee raid in speedboats

Marine police seized HK$3.1 million of smuggled computer hard disks and second-hand mobile phones and confiscated a delivery van at a pier in Tso Wo Hang, Sai Kung, at 1.20am yesterday. Ten smugglers escaped in two speedboats heading towards the mainland.

Raids net pirated games

Customs officers seized eight electronic game consoles and 16 memory cards loaded with pirated games worth HK$13,500 in raids on five shops in Tsuen Wan and Sham Shui Po. Six men were arrested.

Cannabis arrests on Lamma

A couple were arrested on suspicion of trafficking drugs after officers seized HK$20,000 worth of herbal cannabis and cannabis resin, flowers and seeds in a raid on a flat in Yung Shue Wan Main Street, Lamma Island, at about 7pm on Wednesday. The man, 51, and his wife, 31, were still in police custody yesterday.
