Man attacks wife and 'boyfriend'

Police arrested a 39-year-old man for injuring his mainland wife, 35, and her alleged boyfriend, 36, in a chopper attack when he returned to his flat in Ho Pui Street, Tsuen Wan, at about 12.45pm yesterday and found them together. The couple were treated at Yan Chai Hospital while the wife's alleged boyfriend was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital.

Pedestrian critical after accident

A man, 19, was in critical condition in Tuen Mun Hospital after being hit by a taxi on Castle Peak Road, Kwun Tong, at 3.30pm. The driver passed a breath test and no one was arrested. In a separate case, a woman, 62, was in a coma in Queen Elizabeth Hospital after being hit by a van in Hip Wo Street, Kwun Tong, at 8.15am.

Knifemen sought after attack

Police are hunting two men armed with knives who attacked two men and two women, aged 20 to 26, outside a pub in Hillwood Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, at about 5.50am. The victims were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where a 22-year-old woman remained in stable condition last night.

Police thwart suicide attempt

Police rescued a 23-year-old Tai Po man from a charcoal suicide bid after he sent a phone text message to a friend at about 4.30am saying he was going to kill himself. The friend called police, who went to the man's flat in Hong Lok Yuen Second Street and found the victim unconscious. The man was taken to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for treatment.

Hi-fi equipment stolen

Hi-fi equipment worth about HK$180,000 was stolen from a warehouse in Ping Tong Street South, Yuen Long. Police were called at about 1pm after a 44-year-old man went to the godown and found the goods missing.
