Donate to charity and shop with a free heart
With summer on the way and many teenagers looking to get a whole new wardrobe, Tuen Mun Town Plaza is organising a campaign that will help them find space to put their new clothes.
The Fashion to Infinity campaign will reward shoppers who bring in old clothes to the collection station at the mall from tomorrow to April 2 with shopping coupons valued at HK$1,000 on a first-comes-first-served basis.
The coupons can be used in more than 20 fashion boutiques in the mall.
The old clothes will be donated to charity. This will not only help the needy and free up wardrobe space, but will also prevent your once loved clothes ending up in landfills and causing pollution.
Road to Green, a local social enterprise that specialises in collecting, handling and donating old clothes to charities, will deal with the actual donations.
Depending on their condition and style, gathered clothes will either go to the elderly and the underprivileged, or will be sold at charity bazaars, with all revenues going to promoting eco-friendly living.
A Fashion to Infinity Catwalk Show will be held at 3pm on April 10 at the mall's main atrium. Local star Chau Pak-ho, along with models, will showcase 60 different looks for the summer.
Ronnie Chan, general manager of Tuen Mun Town Plaza, says she believes the campaign will make the public more aware of the importance of green living.
Recycling clothes will bring warmth to the needy, while avid shoppers now have an excuse to go shopping - they're helping others and saving the environment. It's a win-win situation, Ms Chan says.
