Ar tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica

Ar tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica features 100 gaming hours, an intriguing storyline, oodles of monsters to kill, beautiful damsels in dire need of rescuing and a great soundtrack.

Even better, this Japanese role-playing game (RPG) is available for the Sony PlayStation 2 in English.

The game is developed by Gust and published by NIS America.

RPG fans will be pleased with the game's anime-inspired designs, from the characters to their environments, and the captivating movies.

They can also do battle with big baddies in a unique combat system.

To add to the fun, elements from dating sim games have also been thrown into the mix for a taste of romantic comedy.

Gamers take on the role of Croix, a knight with the Church of Pastalia who has been ordered to deal with an epidemic that is affecting the Reyvateils (girls gifted with 'song magic').

The disease is called Infa Pira Dependency (IPD), and it drives them insane, causing them to unleash their powers and wreak damage and destruction on anything and anyone nearby. But this is just the beginning of a journey that will eventually take Croix on a quest for the legendary lost song of Metafalica.

The game features a fast-paced song magic battle system that can unleash a world of hurt on your enemies.

It also features the so-called Dive system, which allows you to date your teammates in a virtual world called the Cosmosphere - a place that is actually the subconscious mind of a Reyvateil.

In there you can help the Reyvateil learn new song spells and how to access them better by helping her with her internal struggles.

There are 100 hidden Reyvateils for you to find and get to know. Like any RPG, Ar tonelico II also has a massive item- and character-customisation system for you to play around with.

The game has four different possible endings, and that, combined with 100-plus hours of game play, makes it highly re-playable.
