Kiprotich blazes to record on track

Thomas Kiprotich ran his first track race in Hong Kong yesterday and lapped all other competitors in the men's 5,000m, setting a new HKAAA record of 14 minutes and 38.6 seconds. The Kenyan took 15 seconds off the old record set in 1993, finishing more than a minute ahead of Matthew Jones during the second round of the Hong Kong Athletic League in Wan Chai. Claire Forbes also made it a winning debut in Hong Kong, grabbing the women's 5,000m in 17:45.67. Tang Yik-chun beat rising star Leung Ki-ho in the men's 200m in 21.42 seconds.
