Gaia Gaja, daughter of Angelo Gaja, owner of the 'super-Tuscan' Gaja winery, will host a dinner tomorrow at Angelini restaurant at the Kowloon Shangri-La. The six-course meal includes pearl barley risotto with porcini mushrooms, sage and crisp veal sweetbread paired with the Gaja Barbaresco 2005, roasted wild boar rack with juniper berry crust, crushed Jerusalem artichoke and natural jus with the Gaja Sperss 2004, and black truffle cheese with mustard fruit and honey with the winery's Sori Tildin 2004. La Brasserie at the Gateway hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui will host a dinner tomorrow featuring the wines of Katnook Estate of Coonawarra in South Australia. The dinner has dishes of three-way duck foie gras (terrine marinated with orange spice bread, fritter with pistachio, and cr?me br?l?e with pear chutney) served with the Katnook Estate Merlot 2005, and a choice for main course of pan-seared John Dory fillet with cornmeal and parmesan with the winery's Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 or roasted rack of lamb with balsamic vinegar reduction and potato gratin with the Odyssey 2003. Cammino restaurant at The Excelsior hotel in Causeway Bay is featuring seasonal white asparagus until the end of April. Guests can have dishes of steamed asparagus with a choice of hollandaise, lemon butter sauce or orange hollandaise, cream of asparagus soup with roasted almonds and truffle oil, and penne pasta with white asparagus, scallops, tomato and basil (left). Also serving white asparagus, until April 12, is H One in Central. The ? la carte selection includes white asparagus with roasted wild sea bass and oyster marmalade, and pan-fried white asparagus with porcini mushrooms and black truffles. There is also a five-course set menu (HK$580 plus 10 per cent) with dishes such as white asparagus 'fettucine' with Alaskan crab meat, sea urchin and caviar, and white asparagus tempura with organic micro-greens and shaved bottarga di mugging (dried fish roe).
