In tents experience

The Roar & Snore programme at Sydney's Taronga Zoo, which gives visitors the chance to camp overnight with the animals, has been revamped. Originally set up under the auspices of the zoo's education centre, the attraction features comfortable tents in a dedicated cliff-top location, complete with single or double beds and showers. The programme starts in the evening with a visit to some of the zoo's friendlier animals, before a buffet meal and a two-hour guided night safari. In the morning, after a light harbour-view breakfast, guests take another behind-the-scenes tour, which includes giraffe feeding and a ride on the Sky Safari cable car. There is a minimum booking of two people per tent and a maximum of four. The deal costs A$216 (HK$1,148) per head from Sunday to Thursday and A$240 for Friday and Saturday nights, with discounts for children. For more information, e-mail [email protected].

Dip into infinity

With a 12 metre, saltwater infinity pool called 'Dip' and a glass bar overlooking the pool and garden named 'Milk', Bangkok's newest boutique hotel, Luxx XL, opening next month, is hoping to bring a little of the Big Apple to the City of Angels. The Luxx Group's (www.staywithluxx .com) second property in the Thai capital, XL is located on Langsuan Road, with easy access to Lumpini Park, the city's Skytrain and the Chidlom shopping district. The hotel features a design theme inspired by boutique hotels in New York. Business travellers may be drawn by the sala-style business centre, the garden-side executive lounge and Wi-fi in all public spaces.
