Different nations, same love for Cama family
Tomasi Cama Snr was a veritable fan magnet to people of all nations as he milled around the entrance to the stadium. It was not just loyal fellow Fijians who sought him out and wanted to shake his hand, Cama (pictured) attracted a league of nations that is typical of the Sevens.
Cama was a familiar face on the pitch from 1987 until 1993 and produced that amazing pass between his legs to the great Waisale Serevi.
'The atmosphere is very different at the Hong Kong Sevens, different from other countries, The crowds are amazing and it made us play better, said Cama, who is passing on those sevens skills as manager of the Malaysian team. His son not only has the same name, he has kept up the rugby tradition, and plays for the New Zealand team.
'Fiji is a small nation where overseas revenue is important. If through rugby, my son and I can spread some of that Fijian magic, as well as send money home, that's a very good thing for everyone.'
But there's more to Hong Kong for Cama than rugby. 'This is not only a family reunion, I look forward to seeing some old haunts like Joe Bananas and these days enjoy Devil's Advocate, too. The bars have always been great fun in Wan Chai.'
