Two firemen were injured when a roadside electricity distribution box they were examining exploded. They had been sent to the scene after smoke was reported coming from the box at the junction of Lai Chi Kok Road and Prince Edward Road West, Mong Kok, at 9.30pm. They were taken to hospital with slight eye and ear injuries. A commander said a short-circuit had caused the fire. Power to nearby households and traffic and street lights was cut by the explosion.
