Activist jailed for Olympic banner stunt
A British political activist who unfurled banners on the Tsing Ma Bridge during the Olympics was jailed for six months yesterday. Matt Pearce, a 33-year-old teacher, was sentenced by Magistrate John Glass in Tsuen Wan Court for one count of public nuisance for hanging banners on human rights. The protest blocked the road to the airport for three hours on August 8.
