Top tips: J. Lo glow

Angel Gonzalez (below, right), a master barber and makeup artist with the Mandarin Oriental Salon, gives tips on getting that 'J. Lo glow' this summer without looking overly made up.

'You're always going to see that girl on the beach who is fully made up. The way around this is to use the Jane Iredale range. It is all mineral and all natural and has SPF. Or take your sunscreen and mix it with your foundation and that's fantastic when you're on holiday.

'Smack on some lip gloss and you're set. That's a simple way to go. There is also a new dry sunscreen with SPF30 ... it's a powder, so you rub it in and there are no oils and it works perfectly.

'You have to remember that summer is fresh and fun, and you should use light colours and bronzers and shimmers and use a light blush such as light pink. When using a shimmer, if you put it everywhere, you will look shiny, so I always say put it on using the number three [technique].

'Start at the forehead [on the outer sides of the forehead] and make the shape of the number three from there. It goes back towards the hairline next to the outer side of the eye, then just to the top of the cheek near the ear. If you do get burned, mineral makeup is healing for the skin.'
