First woman assistant police commissioner dies

The police force's first female assistant commissioner, Felicia Wong Leung Kam-shan, 66, died of illness in hospital on March 29, the force's newspaper, Offbeat, reported. Wong joined the force as a probationary inspector in April 1963, and advanced to the rank of assistant commissioner in 1995. She was also regional commander for New Territories North. She retired in 1999 after 36 years of distinguished service, receiving the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 1998. Commissioner of Police Tang King-shing sent a letter of condolence to Wong's family.
