Hong Kong will have new categories for tropical cyclones from this year - 'typhoon', 'severe typhoon' and 'super typhoon'. This is a very interesting move by the Hong Kong Observatory and it has caught the public's attention.
We may not exactly know what a severe typhoon or super typhoon is, but the new system will help raise people's awareness of powerful storms.
Sometimes, people don't get the message. They go out or take part in outdoor activities even during severe storms. This is dangerous - they should learn to protect themselves by staying home or in a safe place.
I think the Observatory does not want to see people getting hurt because of bad weather. That's why they added the new categories.
The important thing is that we stay home or indoors during typhoons.
