New Zealand-based stallion Towkay continued his affinity with Hong Kong at Happy Valley yesterday, bookending the card with a versatile double. Francis Lui Kin-wai-trained Mount Surplus (Alex Lai Hoi-wing) took full advantage of a nice draw to finally break through as a five-year-old for his maiden win over the minimum trip of 1,000m in the Class Five to open the day, while the Caspar Fownes-trained Prime Target's 1,800m victory in the last event was his fourth success. Towkay has largely been an under achiever in Australasia, but has seen most of his success here, where Armada has been his flagship for several seasons. Mount Surplus put the writing on the wall two starts ago when he ran his first placing, also over the Valley 1,000m, then was caught very wide at Sha Tin from a wide barrier.
