Eden Organic

Fare Organic.

Ambience This bistro and bar offers an attractively designed space in white, dusty olive and deep browns with a mural of leafy ferns running along the entrance walls at shoulder height. The large sliding glass doors at the back offer views of tall trees and apartments.

Cost HK$200-HK$350 per person.

Who to bring Your boyfriend, father, brother, male friends - to balance out the clientele that seems predominantly female.

Turn-ons At weekends you can order from both the brunch and lunch menus (11.30am-4pm); brunch sets include a basket of heavenly Danish pastries, the highlight being the divine apple turnover. The starter of grilled scallops came on a bed of perfect greens, and the flesh of the scallops was melt-in-the-mouth buttery. The fresh oysters were delicately flavoured and creamy. The Eden deluxe brunch set (bacon, any style of eggs, mixed bean stew, piquant sausage, garlic roasted mushroom) was neatly presented, not at all greasy, and the sausage was particularly piquant and tasty. The lamb rack in pomegranate sauce was flavoursome and cooked to perfection.

Turn-offs The kitchen is slow, as was the service. The poached eggs were overcooked with solid yolks, but the kitchen was happy to replace them. We ordered the trio of desserts but were brought just one of the three in a large serving - a forest berries tart - which we were unable to finish as it was too big and too sharp.

Drinks Red and white wine, both organic and not, and organic cocktails blended with herbs and fruit ideal for lunchtime.
