Police arrest 15, seize goods worth HK$1.8m in triad raids

Police arrested 15 people and seized HK$1.8 million worth of illicit goods in an operation aimed at suppressing triad income sources in Kowloon West. Officers raided a number of locations in a 14-hour operation that ended at 2am yesterday. Seized goods included illegal cigarettes, pornographic video discs and counterfeit products. The 15 men aged between 21 and 73 were arrested on suspicion of selling illicit goods and involvement in criminal intimidation and triad-related offences.

Eight children injured in crash

Eight kindergarten pupils were slightly injured in a collision between their school bus and a delivery van in Sha Tau Kok Road, near Ma Mei Ha in Sheung Shui, at 8.42am. The four boys and four girls, aged between three and six, were discharged from North District Hospital after treatment. Police said both drivers, aged 28 and 35, were unhurt and passed a breathalyser test.

Two attackers chop elderly man

A 60-year-old man was chopped in the arms and legs in an attack by two men when he came out of his village house in To Yuen Wai on Yuen Long Highway, Tuen Mun, at 9.17am. He was in stable condition in Tuen Mun Hospital. The two attackers fled.
