Lei's double thrusts Shaheen into final

Two first-half goals from Lei Kwok-hung kept Shaheen on course for the double after they defeated Pakistan Association 2-0 at King's Park and booked their berth in this weekend's Rabobank Holland Cup final.

Macau-based Lei allowed Shaheen to ease past Pakistan Association in a game which veteran defender Farooq Saeed marked down as an average performance.

'We were not very aggressive and missed many scoring chances. We will have to lift our game next Sunday if we are to win the Holland Cup and stay in line for the double,' Saeed said.

Shaheen will face Kowloon Cricket Club in the final after the Cox's Road club hammered an under-strength SSSC 5-1 in the other semi-final yesterday.

'We won the double last year and we are determined to repeat it again this time,' said Saeed.

While Shaheen look a safe bet to win next weekend against KCC, they will have a harder time trying to retain their league title with Hong Kong Football Club breathing down their necks.

Football Club are in second place in the standings, three points behind Shaheen but with a game in hand. Both sides have to play each other twice this season and the outcome of these games is likely to decide the league winner.

'We meet Football Club four days after the Holland Cup final. The next few days are going to be intense as we know our silverware chances will depend on how we perform in these games,' Saeed said.
