HONGKONG Telecom has opened two $100 million satellite earth stations at Cape D'Aguilar, which will reduce the cost of transmitting voice and data signals to aircraft, ships and other users of the Inmarsat network.

Previously, the company handed Hong Kong calls to Inmarsat receivers in Singapore or Japan for transmission to satellite.

Inmarsat runs a network of satellites on behalf of 70 member nations.
