English lessons hard at CMI schools
I am a Form Six CMI student. There are always news reports saying CMI students' English is worse than EMI students.
Unfortunately, in my experience, this is true.
Being taught in our mother tongue means there is very little time to practise English. We don't feel confident enough to speak it and don't find it useful in our daily lives. Because we don't practise, we don't improve.
Some EMI students make fun of CMI students because our English is worse than theirs. This makes us even less confident. People say we can learn English ourselves by listening to English songs or reading English newspapers.
But often these things are too advanced for us. And because we can't understand them, we feel even more discouraged.
