Surge in car theft denied
CAR thefts in the first two months of this year compared favourably with the same period last year, according to police statistics.
Secretary for Security Alistair Asprey denied there was a resurgence.
In the first two months of this year, 697 vehicles were reported stolen. ''Although it is higher than the 630 reported stolen in November and December 1993, it compares favourably with the figure of 995 last year.''
