Projects to generate 45.7m tonnes of waste

At least 45.7 million tonnes of construction and demolition waste will be generated by 10 major infrastructure projects in the next five years, Environment Secretary Edward Yau Tang-wah told lawmakers yesterday. He said 2.8 million tonnes might end up in landfills, and contractors were obliged to draw up waste management plans.
