Fun on wheels

On two wheels is a great way to explore Canada's cities and national parks and guests at Fairmont hotels ( will be able to do so with state-of-the-art BMW cruise bicycles. Complimentary bicycles, including those for children, with the latest suspension and braking systems, will allow people staying at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler to explore the many nearby mountain-biking tracks, for instance. Those at Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu (above), meanwhile, can ride along the St Lawrence River.

Island home

In the northern hills of Thailand's Koh Samui lies a new boutique retreat that may be of interest to anyone holidaying in a group. Suralai (, which takes its name from the mythological home of the angels, has only six rooms, catering to up to a dozen people. An expansive sun terrace, an infinity pool, a gym and landscaped gardens give guests little reason to leave the property. Suralai has a chef who will explore markets for the best produce to create a tailored menu. Rooms are not available individually and it costs US$1,200 per night to book the retreat.
