Spot checks lead to nine arrests

Nine people were arrested when police conducted spot checks in Shanghai Street and Reclamation Street, Mong Kok, at about 1.30am yesterday. Five women were arrested during the spot checks. Another three women and a man who allegedly managed vice activities were arrested in a flat at Tai Nan Street. The eight women, aged 20 to 29, were arrested for violating conditions of stay.

Four hurt as car and bus collide

Four people were injured when a car and bus collided on Tai Po Road near Kam Shan Country Park. Both drivers were taken to Caritas Medical Centre in stable condition, while two passengers in the car were taken to Princess Margaret Hospital.

Rescuers search for missing diver

A man in his 30s or 40s was reported missing after going diving at Ung Kong Wan in Sai Kung at 3.40pm. Rescuers were continuing to search for him last night.

'747' plate fetches HK$370,000

The plate 747 fetched the top price of HK$370,000 at an auction of licence plates by the Transport Department that raised more than HK$3.4 million for charity.
