Older diabetics cost city HK$1.4b a year

A study has revealed that the total financial burden imposed by diabetic patients aged 65 or above on Hong Kong's public health services is about HK$1.4 billion annually, with public spending of nearly HK$12,000 on every patient. The study, part of a project initiated by the Jockey Club's Charities Trust, Chinese University and University of Hong Kong, suggested providing care oriented towards the elderly to help control the disease.
