LG Display has unveiled what it claims are the world's slimmest 42- and 47-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) television panels, each 5.9mm thick. The South Korean company's LCD panels employ a light emitting diode backlight system instead of the commonly used cold cathode fluorescent lamp to achieve its ultra-svelte profile.
