Caspar Fownes feared a John Moore whitewash yesterday so when the premiership pacesetter gained only a one-win advantage over him, Fownes was satisfied. Fownes took the final race with Horace's Choice (Jacky Tong Chi-kit) at odds of 27-1 and it was the only ray of light on an otherwise tough day at the office. 'I told the owner that the horse was very well in himself and would run a top race, but I wasn't confident enough to back him,' Fownes said. He believes Horace's Choice might have damaged himself internally in last season's Classic Mile by 'trying his heart out' in a Group One duel with subsequent Derby winner Helene Mascot. 'Today he was nice and fresh and it's pleasing to see him back winning again.' As far as the premiership is concerned, although Moore trained two compared to his one, Fownes thought it was 'a good result'.
