Eight arrested over drug seizure

Police believe they have smashed a triad-controlled drug trafficking syndicate following the arrest of eight people and seizure of HK$100,000 worth of suspected heroin. The seven men and one woman were being held for questioning.

Woman held over drugs in bag

A female visitor from the mainland, 35, was in police custody yesterday after officers seized HK$100,000 worth of illegal drugs in her handbag in Shanghai Street, Mong Kok.

Smugglers make getaway

Marine police seized computer components worth HK$3.8 million in a delivery van in an anti-smuggling operation on the Tai Mong Tsai Road waterfront in Sai Kung at about 4am. Nine smugglers escaped in three speedboats.

Five hurt in 10-vehicle pile-up

Ten vehicles were involved in a pile-up on Ching Cheung Road, Cheung Sha Wan, at 8.40am, which injured five people.

Man arrested for beating wife

Police arrested a man, 49, for punching and kicking his wife, 43, in a dispute over money at Ching Ho Estate, Sheung Shui.
