HK starlets lose sexiest-salad-eater crown (while our men keep chowing the chicken)
In their continuing effort to promote a meat-free diet, the salad eaters at Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) just announced the latest results for their annual poll of Asia's sexiest vegetarians.
Thanks to her appearance in last year's hit Connected, Taiwanese starlet Barbie Hsu Hsi-yuan (pictured) is this year's sexiest female vegetarian.
She narrowly beat Mongolian singer Nominjin, Hong Kong idol Stephy Tang Lai-yan, last year's winner Faye Wong and 2007's Maggie Quigley. Hsu, who began her career in the popular television serial Meteor Garden opposite four slabs of teen idol beef called F4, is due to appear in Wong Jing's new scatterbrain comedy, Forbidden City Cop: Smart Dog.
'I think we should respect the life of all species, a dog, a person,' Hsu declared in Peta's press release. '[All] lives are equal. Eating meat is like eating corpses to me, and it makes me feel sick and sad.'
In terms of the guys, Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor is this year's sexiest vegetarian man. Again, no Hong Kong guys were even in the running, probably because they're all busy chowing down on some Hainan chicken rice or beef brisket noodles.
