Cooking for Life has donated the remaining money - raised in a dinner on May 31 last year at the InterContinental Grand Stanford - to a Sichuan quake relief fund. The South China Morning Post reported the charity had given only HK$140,000 of the HK$402,255 raised for the Red Cross at the event. Charity chief Philippe Bru said last week tax laws had prevented him giving the funds directly to Sichuan. He sent the balance to the Red Cross on Friday.
