Firstly, there should be penalties for anyone who makes unused bookings.

Next, more needs to be done to educate people about how to use the booking system, either online or via advertisements.

School bullying is a social problem

Recently, there have been a lot of news reports about bullying in schools. It seems that the situation in some schools is getting worse. Some people believe that it might have an impact not only on the victims but also on society. Immediate action needs to be taken.

The victims suffer both physically and psychologically. They are usually the more passive students at school. Sometimes older students take advantage of them and they become afraid of going to school. Even worse, when they grow up, they may feel inferior and consider themselves failures in life. Memories of being bullied at school often form lifetime scars.

Meanwhile, the bullies might be bullied at home. This is the reason they think that violence can solve all problems. Later, when they get married, they are likely to cause domestic violence. This kind of problem is very difficult to solve.

In fact, bullying is not simply a school problem but a social one. Both children and adults should solve problems peacefully. Education plays an important role in this. When children are young, they should be taught that bullying is not acceptable.

The government also needs to take an active role by offering assistance and counselling. Social workers should pay more visits to problem families. Television campaigns might also help.

Bullying needs greater attention. Otherwise, society will suffer as youngsters grow up in an atmosphere of violence.

Local graduates better employees

I think employers should hire Hong Kong people who have graduated from local universities. This is because local bosses could find it hard to deal with those who have graduated from overseas universities.

Many people disagree with this view because they believe that graduates of overseas universities have better English skills. But do they? As a Hong Kong student, I strongly believe in getting a degree from a Hong Kong university.

Hong Kong university graduates are more obedient, attentive and patient compared to those from overseas. Due to the traditional Chinese education they have received, students who have graduated from local universities are used to doing what their teachers and other superiors tell them to. Overseas graduates have absorbed western culture and learning methods and tend to have their own working styles and their own thoughts. When their ideas are different to those of the boss, there may be arguments. This makes many traditional employers uncomfortable.

To sum up, local university graduates are more efficient, obedient and familiar with local conditions.
