Man jumps to his death in Central Library

A man in his 40s died yesterday after climbing safety barriers and jumping from the sixth floor of the Central Library in Causeway Bay at about 4.45pm, police said. He was taken unconscious to Ruttonjee Hospital and died at 5.18pm. It was the first such incident in the 12-storey building. A government spokesman said the 1.22 metre barriers were higher than required under regulations.
