Almost exactly nine months after getting married in a big ceremony, singer Kelly Chen Wai-lam gave birth to a 2.7kg boy at Canossa Hospital last Friday morning. Clearly the entertainer, who was married on October 2, wasted no time to start a family with husband Alex Lau Kin-ho.

Through her publicist, Chen said: 'He had been kicking me for so long. Now I can finally see his face ... And it feels great to hear his voice even when he is crying.' Both mother and baby are doing fine. Lau was by her side during the entire labour process.

The star has been out of the spotlight since she announced her pregnancy in December.

However, a mooncake commercial she filmed this year recently started appearing on television with her baby bump hidden behind a loose white dress (left).

The day after the birth, which was by Caesarean section, the couple named their new arrival Chace Lau Sing. According to Chen's representative, 'the baby's Chinese name Sing means 'the rising sun' and his English name phonetically sounds like 'chase''.

'The couple want him to chase his own dreams when he grows up ... and they also joked that they would like to see their son chase a lot of girls or be chased by a lot of girls.'
