As digital cameras get more powerful with every generation, Fujifilm is looking to break the barrier by introducing the industry's first 3D digital camera.

The Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W1 offers you the ability to capture, view and even print photos that resemble the real world, and it does it without the need to wear those funny red and blue glasses everybody had to wear in those old 3D movies.

The system works because it is actually two separate cameras. The two 3x optical lenses capture images and relay them to two different image sensors, which then send the data to the dedicated 'RP (real photo) Processor 3D'. This uses some neat Fujifilm technology to synchronise the data to produce a 3D image. The camera will even do this for 3D movies, according to the company.

Fujifilm has incorporated a technology called 3D LCD, which can display 3D images to the naked eye. You can also get a larger 8-inch 3D photo view called the 'Real 3D V1'.

The two cameras can also work independently to capture two still (2D) images simultaneously for a host of creative options. For example, you can take one photo of the subject with two zoom settings to get two different photos.

Expect the 10 mega-pixel FinePix Real 3D W1 to go on sale in Hong Kong in September for around HK$5,000.
