From September, the luxurious new RV La Marguerite (left) will offer nine-night journeys along the Mekong River, between Siem Reap, Cambodia, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The ship boasts just 46 cabins each measuring 226 sqft and featuring colonial decor, a double bed, a mini bar, air conditioning and a bathroom with shower. Packages include seven nights cruising and a night at each end of the trip in a hotel: Le Meridien Angkok Hotel in Siem Reap and the Sofitel Plaza Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Shore excursions will include Phnom Penh's Killing Fields, the floating markets of Cai Be and cyclo tours to family-run silk weaving factories in Tan Chau. Fun in the sun
This year's Singapore Sun Festival (singaporesunfestival.com), which celebrates the 'art of living well', will run between October 3 and 12. The event will start with a gala at the Esplande Concert Hall, featuring the principal dancers of Russia's Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatres. Following last year's performances by the likes of Kiri Te Kanawa (right), the 2009 line-up includes Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka and singer-songwriter Elvis Costello.
