Sorry is not enough

Many people believe simply saying 'sorry' to someone when we do something wrong is enough to make up for it. But they're wrong.

While apologising to the person we have wronged is important, we also need to remedy the mistake.

We have to show we are sincere in doing something about our mistake. If we are sincere, family, friends and even strangers will be able to genuinely forgive us.

If we all take responsibility for our mistakes, we can build better relationships and help the world become a better place.

Thank you for your letter, Amy. Some people find it terribly difficult to say sorry. Perhaps they think they have made such a big mistake that no one would forgive them. Or perhaps they are afraid of losing face by admitting they were wrong.

Making amends for wrongdoing is often not that easy. But if you can, you should. Sometimes, however, 'sorry' is all you have.
