The Oriental Spa Hong Kong (Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong) offers health, beauty and massage treatments, plus yoga and Pilates. The area is served well by independent holistic treatment centres, while smaller gyms offering boxercise-type classes have opened.

Nightlife

Lan Kwai Fong is the famed bar-hop area, while clubs for various tastes abound, including Azure (Lan Kwai Fong Hotel). This bar on top of the hotel is divided into two floors with bars on each floor, and has a pool table and an outdoor terrace. The celebrity haunts of Dragon-I and Armani Bar (designed by Giorgio himself) also serve contemporary cuisine. Bars and restaurants extend up to SoHo on either side of the escalator.

Local interest

Examples of historic buildings can be seen in the Museum of Medical Sciences, Victoria Prison and police station, and the ancient Man Mo Temple. Colonial and church architecture is seen in the former governor's mansion and St John's Cathedral. Down around Statue Square, the Legislative Council building offsets the modern architecture of the HSBC and Bank of China towers. The Fringe Club hosts art exhibitions and bands and is a good meeting place for drinks downstairs or alfresco on the roof. Artwalks and exhibitions are another feature of SoHo.

Getting about

The Mid-Levels escalator is a commuter boon. The Hong Station serves the airport and Tung Chung lines, while the Island Line and Kowloon are reached from Central MTR.
