Star striker earns his acting spurs with cameo in teen drama
It seems Tottenham Hotspur captain Robbie Keane did more than play a couple of football matches when he was in town two weeks ago for the Panasonic Cup. The star striker also tried his hand at a little acting. The 29-year-old Ireland international was approached by TVB on the day of the tournament to participate in a teen drama called Love Kick Off, which began airing last Sunday.
The shoot took place at Hong Kong Stadium on the day of Spurs' game against South China. The local football team, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, apparently features in the programme's storyline.
The striker filmed his brief cameo between Spurs' games. Playing himself, he appeared on screen and basically greeted a couple of the young characters, handing a ball to one of them, and in return he was given some flowers as a welcome to Hong Kong. It's not exactly Oscar-calibre material - but then we expect no such thing from a TVB Jade teen drama.
South China's team boss, Steven Lo Kit-Sing, also appears in the show, with some of the young characters hoping to play for the club.
