Mother calls police to arrest ketamine girl
A girl, 13, was arrested on suspicion of snorting ketamine after her mother alerted police early yesterday.
The girl appeared to have been high on drugs shortly before 4am when she returned to her home in Oi Ming House, Yau Oi Estate, Tuen Mun, police said.
Her 51-year-old mother, surnamed Ha, called police because she suspected her daughter had taken illegal drugs.
The girl was in a dazed state when carried to an ambulance and taken to Tuen Mun Hospital. Initial investigation showed she had taken ketamine before returning home, police said.
An officer involved in the investigation said white powder believed to be ketamine was found in her nostrils. 'We are investigating how she obtained the illegal drug and who was involved.'
The girl was being held for questioning and no charge had been laid. Officers from Castle Peak police station are investigating the case.
In a separate case, police arrested two suspected traffickers and seized 36 grams of suspected cocaine found in a vehicle in a car park in Wai Yip Street, Kowloon Bay, at about 10.30pm on Thursday. The two men, aged 29 and 30, were being detained at Ngau Tau Kok police station for questioning.
Meanwhile, customs officers at the Lo Wu border checkpoint arrested two people and seized HK$57,000 worth of the designer drug Ice on Thursday.
They intercepted a 43-year-old Hong Kong man and seized 80.8 grams of Ice in the pockets of his trousers when he returned from Shenzhen. Officers later arrested a 32-year-old woman in Kowloon City.
Customs said the two suspects would be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and would appear in Fanling Court today.
The Customs and Excise Department said it had strengthened enforcement at all control points in support of the government's strategy to combat drug problems.
