Early peek at Titanic director's new film
with Andrew Sun. Additional reporting by Clara Mak and Vivian Chen.
The guy who made Titanic has a new movie. Incredibly, it's been 11 years since that little love story made James Cameron 'king of the world', dominating the Oscars and breaking box-office records. His new film is reported to be equally mammoth in scale. Avatar, set on a planet where mankind is engaged in a battle with the local indigenous life form, is a science-fiction epic in 3D with computer-generated effects realistic enough to pass Cameron's exacting demands. To drum up interest, exclusive preview screenings will be run on Friday of a special 15-minute trailer in 3D. Only two cinemas will show the sneak peek and there will only be six screenings in total. They are at 7.15pm, 8.15pm and 9pm at AMC Pacific Place and 9pm, 9.45pm and 10.30pm at the UA MegaBox BEA Imax theatre, which will screen a 70mm Imax version. If you're a movie geek and eager to see this preview, tickets for the public will be distributed on Thursday at 9.30am at the two cinemas (only one ticket per person).
