Hands up all those who want to know why this wedding was secret
Most people would be proud of their marriages. Not Hong Kong celebrities. Some star couples outed by tabloid sleuths at the weekend still remain coy.
That includes the new Mrs Leon Lai Ming, model Gaile Lai Kei-yi (Gai Lai on the wedding certificate).
She was helping Haagen-Dazs promote its ice-cream mooncakes at the APM mall on Monday, but she was equally cool as the media queried her on her wedding details.
'I can only say I am now a married woman,' said Lai, adding that she was shocked that the news was exposed.
'I am very nervous now, and I still haven't yet quite processed the fact [that my marriage has gone public].
'You can ask me questions, but if I don't know how to answer them, I will raise up my hand to indicate that I don't have an answer for it.'
So the model raised her hand about 10 times during the event's media scrum, as reporters hurled questions at her.
How did Leon propose? Was it an impulsive decision? Why doesn't she wear a wedding band? And why has she been denying her marriage?
'People who know Leon and I, they should know that we like to keep our private life between ourselves, and I hope people can respect that.'
Oh yeah, it's such an invasion to say you're hitched.
