Dominic Lam Man-kit can't choose between science and art, so he's doing both. The theoretical physics, medical biophysics and neurobiology degree holder, painter and inventor of a creative process called chromoskedasic (whereby film negatives are used as a canvas for painting) is holding his latest exhibition at the Louis Vuitton Gallery in Tsim Sha Tsui. Titled 'Voyage of Discovery', the commission is a celebration of the moon landing.

'The art curator for LV came to me and said, did you know this is the 40th anniversary of man landing on the moon?' Lam recalled. 'They wanted an exhibit on the idea of voyage and exploration and invited me to create a unique piece. I had to think for a month in June to come up with the idea.'

The result includes a large scroll-like panel using his chromoskedasic process depicting the universe progressing from the Big Bang to the life cycle of stars and galaxies. To go with the astronomy themed art, the opening featured Mandarin Oriental's lunar-themed catering with desserts dressed up as moon rocks. The display continues until November 15.
