The 350-room Westin Shenzhen Nanshan, which is set to open in November, will be the group's fifth Westin on the mainland. Conveniently situated in the Holiday Plaza complex in Nanshan, the hotel adjoins a metro station and bus stops. It is also five minutes from the Shenzhen Bay border.

The hotel has set up an event sales team to take care of events from the initial proposal stage to the final arrangement.

Jin Kim, director of sales and marketing, said: 'For each event, our Star Meeting concierge will be the dedicated person to go through all arrangements with the meeting organiser the day before. We are pledged to follow up every detail throughout the event. All associates are inspired to ensure a memorable experience for the meeting groups.'

Westin has come up with refreshing ideas on the use of space, such as 10 individual meetings rooms and a large pre-function area. The largest meeting space will be the 5,382 sqft Westin Grande Ballroom, which can fit 600 people in a theatre setting.

All meeting rooms will be equipped with built-in screens, projectors and Wi-fi links. Electronic white boards will transform scribbles into a file in the computer, while overhead projectors can cater to all types of hard copies and save them as e-files.

Westin Shenzhen sets itself apart by promoting the concept of green meetings.

Meeting pads will be double sided and the mints will be unwrapped. Instead of bottled water, Westin will provide jars of water in refreshing flavours, such as lemon, to eliminate empty plastic water bottles.
