The water supply for more than 5,000 residents on Peng Chau had been cut off last night when a pipe burst. The Water Supplies Department said supply to the island was stopped at 10.30pm when the underwater mains pipe broke. A department sent a vessel to deliver water until the supply had resumed, which was expected at 6am. On Monday, a burst pipe under Gloucester Road in Wan Chai closed all five eastbound lanes for 10 hours, paralysing rush-hour traffic.
