Safety first

I think being the global 'Make Roads Safe' ambassador is such a meaningful job. After learning that there is a child who is seriously injured or dies every 30 seconds, I just simply can't turn a blind eye to the situation ... besides, when you are driving ... you have to bear a great responsibility not only to care for the safety of your passengers and other pedestrians; sometimes, you also need to be alert for animals [on the road]. That's why I prefer to ride a bike instead of driving, and cycling is eco-friendly

Actress Michelle Yeoh Choo Kheng, the global ambassador of the Make Roads Safe campaign, a project co-ordinated and funded by the British-registered charity, the FIA Foundation, part of the world motoring body that runs Formula 1. She shared her views last week at the launch of this year's Hong Kong road safety campaign.
