Erin Kleinberg

Who started it? Canadian designer Erin Kleinberg spent the first part of her career in fashion working for a number of top stylists. Having gained experience during an internship at W magazine in New York, she returned to Toronto, to set up her eponymous label last year.

Inspired by her great-grandmother's wardrobe - vintage trinkets and designer wear - Kleinberg noticed a gap in the market for more wearable T-shirts. Using an aesthetic that she says is 'American Apparel meets Nicolas Ghesquiere', she took comfortable and soft tees made from 100 per cent natural lyocell (composed of wood-pulp cellulose) and embellished them with subtle vintage-inspired trimmings. Her designs have been seen on celebrities such as Blake Lively, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan and Sienna Miller, and have been featured in Elle, Nylon and Teen Vogue.

Why we love it: Kleinberg's collection combines comfortable fabrics with simple but cool design. Her pieces are loose and slouchy and have a relaxed vibe about them, making the tees versatile and suitable for day and evening wear. The autumn line features cardigans, tees and tanks embellished with vintage buttons, diamond-cut chains and Swarovski crystals on navy blue, heather grey and classic black fabrics.

What we'd pick: the V-neck long black tee (above left; HK$3,400) and the oversized grey tee with black sleeve detailing (above right; HK$2,400).

Where can you get it? Erin Kleinberg is available at all Lane Crawford stores, including the one in IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 3388.
