Iccho Japanese Restaurant

Iccho Japanese Restaurant

5/F Manson House, 74-78 Nathan Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui

Branches also in Causeway Bay and Telford Plaza

Grub: Japanese cuisine, both hot and cold dishes, as well as a wide variety of drinks. The restaurant offers both lunch and dinner, with great value set lunches and a delightful ?la carte menu in the evening.

Vibe: The TST branch is conveniently located next to the MTR. The fifth-floor location affords customers a view of Nathan Road and the mosque by Kowloon Park. The restaurant is spacious and very comfortable - even with a large group, you feel as if you have enough space to chill out all night.

Who to bring: Old friends you haven't seen for a long time - it really is the kind of place you can sit chatting for hours.

It's also a great place to go to when you're exhausted by shoppers and need to get away.

What's hot: The lunch menu offers great deals, starting from only HK$48, and includes noodles in soup, sashimi, sushi and hot dishes with rice. All sets come with the main dish, a side dish and miso soup, and some of the pricier sets come with sashimi, too.

The grilled fish set (HK$88) is a great bargain. The fish is put on the grill only when you place your order. It comes with shrimp, tuna, salmon and yellow tail sashimi, and is the perfect meal for anyone craving raw and cooked fish at the same time. Another dish worth trying is the diced sashimi on rice (HK$88), a massive portion of fish and rice that will fill you up well past dinnertime.

Another reason to go to Iccho is the coupon you get after your first visit, offering a 30 per cent discount if you eat lunch there again within a week.

What's not: Although almost all of the food is faultless, the Japanese soy sauce and miso soup are overly salty.

Cost: Lunch sets start at HK$48. Dinner is on a a separate menu offering a la carte items. Expect to spend about HK$150 per person for dinner.
