Summer is over and it's now time to focus on your autumn wardrobe. But don't pack your mini dress away just yet because this summer staple also appeared on the autumn runways. With some clever styling, it can easily be worn year-round.

Take a look at Janice (below). To make her blue cotton tube dress more appropriate for autumn, she has worn a white tee underneath and a pair of skinny jeans to add some playful layers. I like the subtle details on the dress, such as the knot on the front, which adds a feminine touch. She's accessorised with a trendy studded belt, along with some strappy flats. Her accessories give her look a rocker edge.

Daisy (bottom) has gone for a tiered tube dress that's way more girly. The piece is made of lightweight denim, making it comfortable and cool. She has thrown on a blue wrap to add colour to what otherwise is a plain outfit. There is a beaded necklace attached to her cardigan, an interesting detail. I love Daisy's studded envelope clutch, which gives her look a vintage vibe.

Wear a tube dress with a statement cover-up such as a jacket or cardigan when the weather gets cooler. Choose a tribal-inspired embroidered vest for a Boho look or a leather jacket for a rocker vibe. Some dresses can double as maxi skirts - simply match with a tank top and cardigan. Polish off the look with a multi-strand necklace or a slim scarf to add some cool layers.

Also experiment with belts, preferably in a candy colour to add some dimension. Or for the runway look, wear yours with a strong shouldered blazer, dark coloured tights and chunky ankle booties.

I spotted a sporty tube dress with pink, white and blue colour blocks at Lacoste (Shop 20, 3/F, Sogo, Causeway Bay, tel: 2831 2991), a great item for layering - wear it with a basic tee or a neutral coloured blazer. I also love the 1980s-inspired denim tube dress at Guess (Shop 1066, Elements, 1 Austin Rd West, TST, tel: 2196 8915) with a sexy sweetheart neckline. You can wear it with a cropped blazer or a vest and multiple bracelets. Accessorise with a woven leather belt from Muji (Shop 10-11, Level 7, Langham Place, 8 Argyle St, Mong Kok, tel: 3971 3140), in colours ranging from brown to black.
