Know Me, Like Me, Follow Me

Know Me, Like Me, Follow Me by Penny Power with Thomas Power Headline, HK$214

This book is about using the online world to grow your business. However, readers hoping to find advice worth paying for will be disappointed. Written by Penny with Thomas Power, the couple behind online business network Ecademy, the book contains much that even a neophyte networker will find obvious. Power founded her business in 1998, the year that Amazon.co.uk began and five years before Facebook's arrival. She writes that a Google search usually results in content and people being found on social media sites such as Flickr, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn. Readers will probably roll their eyes to hear that 'being found inside the social media world is now the best way of being found'. A 'conversationalist' (as opposed to her 'communicator' husband), she uses many words to tell readers how to make it easy for others to make contact and why branding is important. She also writes that to become a top blogger you need to blog regularly, provide good content and share knowledge. Perhaps not evident to everyone, however, is her 'don't sell' tip. By that she means it is usually counterproductive for bloggers to put out blogverts.
