If it's Western food you are after, the following two restaurants are among the latest hot spots for international dining:

Mezzo Italian Restaurant

Cuisine Italian

Specialities Antipasti, pasta, pizza, seafood and grilled meats

Average food cost $$-$$$$

Opening hours 12 noon-2.30pm (Monday-Friday); 6pm-10.30pm (daily)

Remarks This is one of the newest - and best - in Shenzhen's growing collection of Italian restaurants. Assistant director of food and beverage Gianpiero Ruocco, who is passionate about people and food, oversees the kitchen. The pan-fried shredded beef, veal shank braised in Italian gravy, and the oven-baked silver cod are highly recommended. You must leave room for dessert. The tiramisu is heavenly.
