Apply before bedtime, and don a pair of cotton gloves (available at cosmetic stores) to wake up with thoroughly nourished hands.

Two Girls Living Rose Hand Cream (HK$16) 9/10

Made by a company that's been around since 1898, this fragrant cream feels oily for a minute then sinks in, leaving hands soft and sweet-smelling for a bit of pocket change.

Darphin Aromatic Hand Cream (HK$410) 7/10

The mildly scented cream is light and fairly easily absorbed by skin. The moisturising effect is initially satisfying but not long-lasting. It claims to diminish fine lines and dark spots, but at this price it should work miracles.

Skinfood Cherry Milk Soft Hand Essence (HK$130) 8/10

Light and easily absorbed, with a sweet scent that relieves tension. Unfortunately the bottle is too large to carry around.

L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (HK$200) we love it!

This is heavy-duty stuff as the retro tube implies, and a little goes a long way - the mix of shea butter, honey and almond extract really works. It can feel a bit greasy, but resist washing it off and your hands will thank you.

Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Hand Treatment (HK$395) 7/10

Very moisturising and heals visible cracks instantly. It can feel too heavy when the weather's warm, and it's pretty pricey, so save it for winter to use as hand mask.
